The Philippine Executive Council of Academic Affairs (PECAA) is the first collaborative body of education institutions represented by their Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs (VPAAs), working together to advance academic leadership and excellence across the Philippines.
PECAA serves as a platform for strategic dialogue, policy alignment, and innovation in academic governance.
It empowers institutions to share best practices, address emerging challenges, and shape the future of higher education through collaborative and forward-looking leadership.
The Philippine Executive Council of Academic Affairs (PECAA) envisions to be a nonprofit, non-partisan academic association (council) among VPAAs for their professional engagement to better help their schools, the government, and the relevant industries for the advancement of education reforms.
The vision manifest five key pillars for its distinct visionary identity:
The five pillars need to be completely present, interconnected, and interrelated. The vision is undermined if one pillar is lacking. A diminishing vision also detracts the identity of the association. It is imperative that all the pillars are present as they altogether form the identity of the association in the service of its vision. The identity articulates the vision. This is the raison d'être of the PECAA.
The first two pillars describes the structure. The third and the fourth pillars indicate the purpose. The last pillar aims for the impact.
Inspired by its vision, the Philippine Executive Council of Academic Affairs shall aspire to be a premier association of VPAAs in the Philippines, working together for the advancement of education reforms in the country, through relevant policies, programs, and practices.
The Philippine Executive Council of Academic Affairs shall endeavor to pursue three fundamental objectives in the service of its vision and mission:
1. Bring together all like-minded VPAAs of higher education institutions in the Philippines, with the aim of formally organizing them into a non-profit, nonpartisan academic association (council);
2. Provide meaningful professional engagement opportunities for the member-VPAAs to better equip them in their academic functions, in turn enabling them to better help their schools, the government, and relevant industries; and
3. Work for the advancement of education reforms in the Philippines through the association, in the areas of policies, programs, and practices.
Higher education academic management
VPAAs are imbued with higher education academic management as their core competency. VPAAs are both academicians in their respective fields, and as administrators in their positions of authority.
